ARSENAL OVERTAKE MANCHESTER CITY

Bournemouth 0 Arsenal 2: Arsene Wenger's side go third to close the gap on the Premier League leaders

Two goals in as many minutes saw Arsenal claim their first league win in four games as Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set them on their way to a 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

A cagey opening quarter of the match saw both sides fashion their share of half-chances, though the visitors in particular seemed to lack composure as they drew closer to goal.
With nearly five-and-a-half hours of league football under their belt without a goal Arsenal needed to vary their approach to find the net. Aaron Ramsey launched a long-ball towards Olivier Giroud in the area; his knock-down was right on Ozil’s left foot for him to hammer in from close range.
Within two minutes their advantage was doubled, Oxlade-Chamberlain going down the outside of Charlie Daniels before hammering a powerful effort past Artur Boruc and in off the post.
Arsenal found themselves on the back foot for the majority of the second half, yet Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel had little to test them as Bournemouth struggled to get numbers into the box.
The visitors offered little going forward in the second period but by then the game was won, with Arsenal back to third and the gap to Leicester down to five points ahead of next week’s clash.
