Chelsea star Diego Costa charged by the FA after Everton red card

CHELSEA striker Diego Costa has been charged with improper conduct following Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final tie at Everton.

The charge relates to the striker's behaviour after he was shown a second yellow card by referee Michael Oliver.

The Spaniard has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge and has until Wednesday to provide his observations to the FA in relation to an alleged V sign he made towards Everton fans while he left the pitch at half-time.

Costa was sent off for his part in a clash with Gareth Barry in the 84th minute of the Blues's 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park.
