Just one goal separates the top three marksmen in the Premier League this season
THE Premier League title race might be over but the Golden Boot battle is going right down to the wire.
Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Sergio Aguero are in a thrilling three-way tussle to be crowned the top-flight’s leading scorer.
And they will all have eyes on the prize when their respective final fixtures kick off on Sunday.
England striker Kane, 22, heads into Tottenham’s showdown at relegation-haunted Newcastle leading on 25 goals.
His Three Lions team-mate Vardy, 29, visits Chelsea just one strike behind, having blown the chance to draw level when he missed a penalty in Leicester’s 3-1 win over Everton last weekend.
Last season’s Golden Boot winner Aguero, 27, has also netted 24 times and will look to add to his tally when Manchester City go to Swansea.
Should the Argentine fail to score, an Englishman will top the Premier League charts for the first time since Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips an amazing 16 YEARS ago.
Kane is, of course, in pole position, although he has bagged only one in his last three matches and has struck just once against Newcastle in four games.
He finished second behind Aguero in last season’s charts with 21.
But he took six league games to get off the mark this time around amid fears he was a one-season wonder.
Kane soon found form though and is the first Englishman to hit more than 20 goals in back-to-back campaigns since Alan Shearer for Newcastle from 1995 to 1997.

Aguero has arguably been the least-heralded of the three this season.
But his goal-to-games ratio is the best, having played just 29 games to Kane’s 36 and Vardy’s 35.
He has also scored more headers and more outside the box.
Speaking last month, boss Manuel Pellegrini said: “He has scored an important amount of goals. I am sure he is the best striker in this league.”
