Ingolstadt 1-2 Bayern Munich: Robert Lewandowski's brace hands visitors their 25th Bundesliga title
- Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Bayern Munich won at Ingolstadt
- Bayern's victory ensured a 25th Bundesliga title for the Bavarian giants
- Borussia Dortmund lost at Eintracht Frankfurt but still finish with 77 points, which is a record for second-placed teams in the German top flight
Bayern Munich clinched their 25th Bundesliga title with a game of the season to spare thanks to a 2-1 win at Ingolstadt.
Robert Lewandowski's 28th and 29th goals of the season, the first coming from the penalty spot, put one hand on a fourth straight league title for the Bavarians.
Moritz Hartmann made them wait to make sure as he pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, but there was to be no fairytale recovery for the smaller of the two Bavarian clubs as their illustrious neighbours took the points and the title.
Borussia Dortmund's 1-0 loss at relegation-threatened Eintracht Frankfurt meant even a defeat would have been enough for Bayern, which was eight points clear of Dortmund with one round remaining.
Dortmund's 77 points was already a record for a second-place team since the Bundesliga began in 1963.
Stefan Aigner's early header proved enough for Frankfurt to climb out of the relegation zone, one point above Werder Bremen in the relegation play-off spot after its scoreless draw at Cologne.
Frankfurt was fortunate Mats Hummels' equalizer before the break was ruled out for offside. Video replays showed the Dortmund captain was onside at the time.
