Cech clanger costs Arsenal as Wenger's men miss the chance to cut the gap at the top as Williams goal gives Swansea hope
ARSENAL 1-2 SWANSEA : Arsenal's contribution to the title race no-one wants to win was this rather sorry home defeat against a Swansea team without their manager and with six players rested. It was not the reaction Arsene Wenger had expected after the defeat at Manchester United on Sunday. Joel Campbell's opener should have eased any anxieties but the problems seem to be a more deeply rooted in the Arsenal dressing room.
The jeers at the final whistle summed up the mood and signalled Arsenal's annual collapse.
It is little wonder the Arsenal fans are fed-up and yet the atmosphere at the Emirates has become so toxic that the players appear to have crumbled under the pressure.
This was Arsenal’s chance, their big opportunity to get back into the title race and yet they were nowhere near confident enough or strong enough to take it.
Arsene Wenger’s men look like a team who have lost belief, they are in complete meltdown and even their fans have given up.
Ashley Williams’ 75th minute winner signalled a walkout as a large number of fans made for the exit doors. There was no protest about the board or ticket prices. They had just given up.
